since 2006 I am working as a Product Manager for Deformation Monitoring Solutions at the VMT GmbH in Bruchsal. The core business of VMT Gmbh is concerned with navigation of tunnel boring machines in huge infrastructure projects. More than 1000km of tunnels and more than 500 tunnel boring machines all over the world have been "Guide by VMT"

In urban areas such projects require installation of monitoring systems, as adjacent buidlings and structers are always influenced by the undertaken construction works. In this kind of projects monitoring helps managing risk, by providing data, derived from measurements taken at buidling, structures on the Earth's surface and also under ground.  This measurements may be taken manually, for example by levelling or fully automated, for example with motorized totalstations.
